About Finding Shinrone

This project was completed by IADT’s Cultural Event Management Class of ‘26 in collaboration with the people of Shinrone and with the help of Bellefield House and Joe Cleary.

Before any action was taken in completing the project, we first set out what it was we wanted to achieve. We articulated this by developing a mission statement which was as follows: “With curiosity and through meaningful conversation, we will respectfully discover and collate the unique stories and values of Shinrone with the end goal of developing a picture of the village that is true to its character, celebratory of its history, representative of its present and beneficial to its future.”

With that in mind, the class communicated with the few contacts we had in Shinrone and developed a plan of action to meet and interview key people within the community. We quickly discovered just how close knit the community was there and how open they were to share information about the historical and storied village. This made the task at hand not only easy, but a real joy. After a full day of interviews we brought the recordings back and developed them into stories that feel true to the village, which are shared here as part of this interactive cultural map.
